Markings: Painted in honor of Major Don Gentile who flew an olive drab P-51B called Shangri-La in the 4th Fighter Group. A new D model was painted in Shangri-La markings for Major Gentile after his return from a combat tour to fly around the country on a war bond tour.
This Mustang is from Mexico. Purchased from Doug Arnold of Warbirds of Great Britain Ltd., in UK and moved to Mexico in 1994. There were two Shangri-Las at the event but there were some slight differences, can you tell the difference?
